In this study, a cadmium based metal organic framework [Cd (DPTTZ) (5-AIP)] (IUST-1) was synthesized under solvothermal condition. Cd (NO3)2.4H2O, 5-amino isophthalic acid and 2, 5-di(pyridine-4-yl) thiazole [5, 4-d] thiazole (DPTTZ) act as precursors. The obtained structure was characterized by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), Elemental analysis (CHNS), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Energy dispersive spectrometer (EDS) mapping analysis (MAP) and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA).MOFs in which cadmium is the metal center and have rich π conjugated aromatic ligands are good candidates for fluorescence sensing applications. The synthesized MOF was used as a fluorescent sensor for nitrobenzene (NB), Dichromate (Cr2O72-) and Hg (Ⅱ) with high sensitivity and selectivity. Stern-Volmer constants for nitrobenzene (NB), dichromate anion (Cr2O72-) and mercury cation Hg (Ⅱ) are: 5.84 x 104 M-1, 3.314 x 104 M-1, 4.474 x 104 M-1, respectively and calculated limit of detection (LODs) are 6.02 x 10-7 M, 2.6 x 10-6 M, 8.7 x 10-6 M, respectively.
