Summary The area covered in this thesis, Agha Najafi pass in the east area of Isfahan Square, has experienced a complicated situation in the past years, which has been widely reflected in scientific circles. In the comprehensive and detailed plan of Isfahan city, no predictions have been made to create this pass and its construction was approved in 2006, but between 2006 and 2011, no action has been taken towards its construction and texture destruction operations around the pass have been started since 2011. The main goals of this research is, preserving the historical values, organizing the current situation of the pass and its peripheral areas, spatial and functional improvement in the area of the pass, eradication of damages as much as possible, paying more attention to the role of pedestrians in the design to strengthen the scale and human sense in the historical context. This research is about to answer the following questions: a) To what extent does paying attention and giving importance to focus on pedestrians help implementation of such plans? b) In the design of Agha Najafi pass, which aspects of urban restoration have priority? c) What is the role of urban open spaces in urban restoration plans? To reach the goals and answer the questions, we initially used usual library tools and field observations and local and foreign sources to study and complete the theoretical fundamentals of pedestrian walks and in the next stage we studied the process of formation and changes in the structure of existing prominent buildings and calculated the capacities and shortcomings in the area to reach the most suitable plan. Finally, the process of organizing the pass has been completed. After studying the needs and determining the required applications, staining, locating and design of connections and so on, we reached a conclusion and the data in this research were presented in the form of 2D and 3D plans.
