Due to the increasing development of the rail transport industry, calculating and evaluating the reliability and readiness of railway equipment based on breakdown statistics is of great importance. The Islamic Republic of Iran, with an area of 1,648,195 square kilometers, has 10,160 kilometers of main lines and 2,838 kilometers of railway sub-lines, with 25,430 types of freight wagons owned by 42 private companies, as well as 2,100 sets of passenger wagons, of which more than 50 annually. It handles millions of tons of cargo and over 28 million passengers. In this study, after evaluating the causes and consequences of failures of high series GM locomotives (GT26cw, GT26 cw -2, GT26 cw -2A and GT26 cw-MP of the railways of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reliability indicators and failures that have the greatest impact in time Malfunctions and technical accessibility were identified, and the level of accessibility of locomotives was determined, and finally, solutions to improve the reliability and accessibility level of the system are provided. In the proposed plan, according to the statistics of GM locomotives of the above series, the analysis and evaluation of 9 categories of electrical, mechanical, electrical-mechanical, braking, mechanical-braking, boogie, equipment, welfare and accidents were performed by FMEA method. In the next step, the reliability of GM locomotives is calculated based on breakdown statistics using the Weibull function, and then their accessibility is checked. Finally, according to the calculated indicators, strategies to improve reliability and accessibility were researched.
