در چند دهه گذشته، توجه فزاينده اي به آگاهي مورفولوژيكي شده است و در ادبيات يادگيري زبان دوم به رسميت شناخته شده است. آگاهي مورفولوژيكي (MA) توانايي دستكاري تكواژها و قواعد تشكيل كلمه در يك زبان است و به تشخيص، درك و استفاده از اجزاي كلمه كه داراي اهميت هستند اشاره دارد. پژوهش حاضر به بررسي تأثير آموزش و آگاهي دهي بر اكتساب و شناخت واژگان زبان آموزان زبان انگليسي ايراني در سطوح پيشرفته مي پردازد. بدين منظور 40 نفر از دانش آموزان يك موسسه خصوصي زبان انگليسي در تهران بر اساس آزمون تعيين سطح آكسفورد انتخاب شدند. سپس به طور تصادفي در دو گروه آزمايش و كنترل قرار گرفتند. براي اطمينان از سطح دانش واژگان هر دو گروه، يك پيش آزمون توسط معلمان اجرا شد. گروه آزمايش آموزش آگاهي مورفولوژيكي را دريافت كردند. به آنها ليستي شامل 60 پسوند مشتق مهم و كاربردي زبان انگليسي از جمله پيشوندها، پسوندها و ريشه ها آموزش داده شد. اين ليست از كتابي به نام «word power, made easy» گلچين شده است. از سوي ديگر، گروه كنترل بدون مداخله به آموزش استاندارد خود ادامه دادند. پس از 10 جلسه، پس آزمون برگزار شد. نتايج نشان داد كه دستورالعمل‌هاي صريح صرفي ، شناخت و اكتساب واژگان دانش‌آموزان را بهبود مي‌بخشد. بر اساس نتايج اين پژوهش، پيشنهاد مي‌شود آموزش‌هاي صرفي و فرازباني به عنوان راهبرد يادگيري واژگان در كلاس‌هاي درس زبان پياده‌سازي شود.

The Effect of Morphological Awareness on Vocabulary Acquisition and Recognition of the Advanced Iranian EFL Learners

In the past few decades, there has been growing attention to morphological awareness, and it is receiving much recognition in the literature on second language learning. Morphological awareness (MA) is the ability to manipulate morphemes and word formation rules in a language and refers to the recognition, understanding, and use of word parts that carry significance. The current study investigates the impact of morphological instruction and awareness on vocabulary acquisition and recognition of Iranian advanced EFL learners. To do so, 40 students of a private English institute in Tehran were selected based on Oxford Quick placement test. Then, they were randomly assigned into experimental and control groups. A teacher-made pre-test was administered to both groups to ensure their vocabulary knowledge level. The experimental group received morphological awareness instruction. They were taught 60 English derivational affixes, including prefixes, suffixes, and roots. They received predetermined tasks and information from a book name “Word power made easy. " On the other hand, the control group continued their regular instruction without intervention. After 10 sessions, a teacher-made post-test was given to both groups. The result showed that explicit morphological instructions improved students' vocabulary recognition and acquisition since the experiment group outperformed the control group in the post-test, although they had a similar outcome in the pre-test. Based on the result of this study, it is suggested to implement morphological and meta-lingual instruction as a vocabulary learning strategy in language classrooms.
