Since the beginning of human life, housing has always been one of the most important topics in the field of architecture, as it is one of the first and fundamental human needs. With the increasing population and urban density, and consequently the increase in housing demand, industrialization of construction is considered a necessary solution in addition to the inefficiency of traditional building systems.
Industrialization of construction not only has the ability to meet the current demands of society, but also has a significant positive impact on construction speed, quality, and cost-effectiveness. Building industrialization includes all activities, technologies, and methods of construction and production of factory-made building components and elements, which are mass-produced according to standards.
The aim of this research is to design a structure that can be as responsive as possible to the three main pillars of time, cost, and quality, and cover them well. Prefabrication, as one of the industrialization approaches, is one of the best solutions for increasing the speed of housing construction and eliminating the problems of traditional methods and reducing project costs. In addition, modular design can be used as a planned system alongside prefabrication to create flexibility in different spatial scales and spatial arrangements.
In this research, considering the capabilities of panelized prefabricated systems and their widespread use in the design of residential spaces, large panels have been used to address the issue. The reason for this choice was the high installation speed, better quality, high flexibility in design, low weight, easy transportation, and significant cost reduction. Also, by relying on the advantages of these systems, their disadvantages have been overcome by presenting a new and more suitable system.
In line with this research, first, theoretical concepts in the field of the main study were examined, and after analyzing and studying similar examples and developing design criteria, several proposed design options were presented. Then, an option with maximum responsiveness to the problem's needs was selected, and its details were designed. Finally, several housing samples with different scales were designed and presented to address the issues and criteria mentioned.
