ثبات قدم، ذهنيت زباني و انگيزه سه متغيري هستند كه در ادبيات همواره وابسته به فراگيري زبان بوده اند. بنابراين در اين مطالعه نيز محقق سعي نموده تا اثر پيشگويانه اين سه ممتغير بر فراگيري زبان را بررسي كند. اين مطالعه به اشكار سازي اين مورد پرداخته است كه ايا ثبات قدم، ذهنيت زباني و انگيزه ميتوانند فراگيري زبان را پيش بيني كنند يا خير و اينكه كدام يك از اين متغيرها پيش بيني كننده ي قوي تري براي فراگيري زبان است. در اين مطالعه 117 دانشجوي اكادميك انگليسي است كه شامل 103 مرد و 14 زن است. شركت كنندگان دانشجوي مقطع ليسانس در دانشگاه علم و صنعت ايران بودند. سه پرسشنامه براي جمع آوري اطلاعات از شركت كنندگان بكار گرفته شد. روش مطالعه تحقيق كمي براي دستيابي به نتايج بكار گرفته شد و نتايج تحقيق اشكار كرد كه انگيزه و ذهنيت زباني نميتوانند فراگيري زبان را پيش بيني كنند اما ثبات قدم ميتواند ذهنيت زباني را پيش بيني كند.

Motivation, grit and language mindset as predictors of language achievement?

Grit, mindset and motivation are three variables that have been associated with language achievement in the literature. Therefore, these variables were of interest to this study and the researcher aimed to analyze the predictive properties of grit, mindset and motivation on language achievement. The current study focused on revealing whether grit, mindset and motivation can predict language achievement and also which of the variables is a stronger predictor of language achievement. 117 academic English students comprised of 103 male and 14 female participated in this study. The participants were bachelor students at Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST). And the data were gathered using three questionnaires including 2 × 2 L2 Motivational Self System by Papi and Khajavi (2021), L2 grit scale by Plonsky and Teimouri and Language Mindset Inventory (LMI). Students Grade Point Average was considered as a representation of their language achievement. A quantitative research approach was taken to conduct this study and Person Product Moment and multiple regression were run in order to reveal the correlation between the variables of the study. The findings of the current study revealed that motivation and mindset cannot predict the outcome variable (language achievement), but the association between grit and language achievement is a significant association. Therefore, between three variables included in the study as the predictor variable, only grit has a statistically significant coefficient and is the stronger predictors than other variables.
