The expansion of machine cities, the approach of modernism to their construction and changing the concept of urban elements, caused city streets to turn from spaces with social interactions and important centers of the city into passageways and passages for the commuting of the city's people. This caused the death of these important and living urban elements, but after feeling the absence of their presence and the silence of these urban spaces, attention was again drawn to the streets and the role they can play in the city. On the other hand, the beginning of whispers of pedestrian life in the city, and the pedestrian-oriented approach made the pedestrian element once again find a special place in the city and be prioritized over the horse. For this reason, the urban planning approach was formed in the last few decades to revive the category of increasing walkability in cities. As one of the most important commercial and administrative axes of Mashhad, Meghtis Street has drawn attention to this matter. This street is very important due to its location and function in the city, and due to the elements and shopping centers it has, it is considered one of the main arteries of the city. This research seeks to answer the question, what are the criteria for creating a sustainable sidewalk as an urban space? How can they be achieved in order to provide solutions to improve the physical structure of the city by increasing the walkability of the cities and promote sustainable urban development more firmly. . The main purpose of this research is to investigate and understand and explain the relationship between the sustainable city and pedestrians. This research is applied and descriptive-analytical. According to the above, this thesis has been studied in 5 chapters. In the first chapter, the generalities of the research, in the second chapter, the concepts, theories and other features of ecological walking have been investigated and at the end of the research, a conceptual framework has been adopted. In the third chapter of the research, different and similar foreign and domestic merchants have been examined. The fourth chapter is dedicated to the details of the studied area in the macro and micro field so that all the important systems of the research in the area have been examined and all the important angles have been evaluated and in the last chapter, by examining each and every system, the analysis is done. The situation has been made and more detailed analyzes have been made. In the studies carried out in this research, it was found that many factors are effective in creating a pedestrian environment and the design of the surrounding space is one of the most important factors in creating an environment-friendly pedestrian space. In the last chapter of this research, the correct design and planning criteria are described in a visual way, and the SWAT tables identify the problems and problems, and using the SWAT table, appropriate strategies and policies are presented. In the end, by answering the research questions in the research process, we have reached each and every target.
