بررسي كلمات ترديد در مقالات زبانشناسي كاربردي ايراني با ديدگاه بررسي طولي

اين مطالعه كلمات ترديد استفاده شده در مقالات ايراني زبانشناسي كاربردي را براساس ديدگاهي طولي مورد بررسي قرار مي دهد. در اين بررسي دو دوره زماني 1980 – 2001 و 2002-2022 در نظر گرفته شده است. قسمت هاي بحث و نتيجه گيري در 40 مقاله علمي به زبان انگليسي كه توسط محققان ايراني اين رشته انجام شده بود، به دقت مطالعه شدند و جست وجوي كلمات ترديد به صورت دستي و با توجه به دو رويكرد معنايي و كاربردي انجام گرفت. به منظور مطالعه معنايي، كلمات ترديد به صورت: افعال، افعال مدال، و قيد/صفت/اسم دسته بندي شدند. همچنين مدل كلمات ترديد هايلند (1988) براي طبقه بندي كاربردي اين كلمات مورد استفاده قرار گرفت. آزمون مجذور كاي (كاي-دو) به منظور مشخص كردن معناداري آماري به كار برده شد. براساس نتايج مشاهده شد كه استفاده از كلمات ترديد به صورت قابل توجهي كاهش يافته است كه از لحاظ آماري نيز معني دار بود. اين نتيجه با نتايج تحقيقات مشابه گذشته نيز هماهنگ بود. به اين صورت كه محققان زبانشناسي كاربردي همانند ساير محققان اين رشته در سال هاي اخير ممكن است به استفاده كمتر از كلمات ترديد متمايل بوده باشند. اين موضوع ممكن است نشاني از حركت به سمت رويكرد هاي نوشتاري رشته هاي علوم سخت با توصيفات عيني و وابستگي كمتر به تفسيرو تحليل ومتقاعد كردن خواننده باشد.

An Investigation of Hedges in Iranian Applied Linguistics Research Articles: A diachronic perspective

This study is an investigation of hedging devices in Iranian applied linguistics research articles from a diachronic point of view considering two time periods: 1980-2001 and 2002-2022. In this study the discussion and conclusion sections of a corpus of 40 research articles written in English by Iranian researchers in the field of applied linguistics were manually and carefully examined and hedges, based on both a semantic and a pragmatic aspect were obtained. From a semantic perspective, hedges were classified into: (verbs, modals, and adverbs/adjectives/nouns (AAN), and for the pragmatic dimension, Hyland’s (1988) model of polypragmatic hedges was employed. The Chi-square test was utilized to determine statistical significance. According to the results, the total number of hedging items had a substantial decline which was statistically significant. This finding was in line with the previous studies (e.g., Hyland and Jiang, 2016a, 2016b, 2018; Keramati, 2019; Deng, Bagheri, Gao, 2021) in that writers of applied linguistics might be inclined towards using less hedging devices and it appears that Iranian researchers of applied linguistics, similar to other researchers of the field, might be moving towards styles of writing that somewhat resembles academic writings of hard sciences which are less interpretive and persuasive and more categorical and objective.
