Presentation of a comprehensive framework for eva‎luating the benefits of port digitalization using the maturity model

Nowadays, the smartification of ports and ways to achieve it is one of the most important issues for governments, traders, transport companies, people of countries, and especially people of coastal cities due to operational, environmental, and social issues. This study uses the Grounded Theory method, which is a qualitative research method, and data and concepts are generated from the bottom up using interviews, observation, and content analysis. This method is particularly used to discover patterns, relationships, and new perspectives in a research field and includes stages such as open coding, sample selection, analysis, and theory generation. Grounded Theory, as a qualitative research method, is very close to the nature of this qualitative research topic. The final product of this research is a model of port smartification maturity, which has gone through an evolutionary process based on the stakeholders' interests. The initial model was created based on the limited available literature, library studies, and initial interviews with experts. The secondary model is a developed model of the initial model created based on experts' opinions and interview sessions held with them. This model was eva‎luated by another group of experts who had not provided any opinions before and was implemented in an internal and external port. After receiving the opinions and suggestions of this group, the deficiencies and weaknesses of the model were resolved, and the third (final) model was created.
