The decrease in security and the increase in urban crimes are considered to be one of the biggest crises of human societies, which are rooted in the social and physical structure of urban spaces. Just as correct urban planning can pave the way to achieve progress and peace for city residents, incorrect planning for the physical, environmental, social and economic structure of the city can turn the public spaces of the city into a platform for all kinds of social crises, including insecurity and committing crimes. Insecurity also manifests itself in the form of abnormal social behaviors such as theft, addiction, vandalism, violence and other similar behaviors. Although there are social crises in all parts of the city, they are not evenly distributed on the city level, and spaces called defenseless and crime-prone spaces are the place where all kinds of crimes, violence and other examples of insecurity occur. The one-dimensional view of the planners on the defenseless factors of urban spaces has caused that to solve this problem, all dimensions and aspects of urban life are not paid attention to and comprehensive planning based on physical, environmental, social and economic characteristics is not done for defenseless urban spaces. The security of Isfahan is very important as one of the biggest industrial, tourism and economic cities of the country. The presence of defenseless spaces in the suburbs of the city, in addition to harming the social and physical structure of the neighborhood itself, also endangers the security of other neighborhoods and parts of the city. South Hesse neighborhood is one of the crime-prone neighborhoods of Isfahan city, which has many defenseless areas. Residents' drug addiction, drug sales, violence, poverty, and theft are some of the concrete examples of insecurity in this neighborhood. The addiction of some residents of this neighborhood and their increasing poverty, in addition to creating insecurity at the neighborhood level and reducing the quality of life of its residents, the security of other neighborhoods in Isfahan is also at risk. Therefore, the main goal of this research is to extract the defenseless indicators of urban spaces, to identify the areas of South Hesseh neighborhood that have a lower degree of defense and to provide planning solutions to improve their situation. The type of research is applied in terms of purpose and analytical-descriptive in terms of methodology. In this research, by studying library documents, the characteristics of unsafe and crime-prone spaces were investigated, and then factors and indicators affecting the degree of defendability of urban spaces were extracted in four physical, environmental, social and economic dimensions. In order to identify the defenseless spaces of South Hesse neighborhood, the neighborhood was divided into 8 areas based on the main roads and its physical texture. Then, the values related to the indices of each dimension were collected based on the nature of the index and its available information in each of the eight ranges. Information related to indicators was collected with the help of one of the questionnaire methods, field scoring and statistical data conversion into GIS maps. In the next step, the indices of each dimension were separately measured and weighted using the Shannon entropy method. Then, by using the TOPSIS method, the eight areas of South Hesse neighborhood were ranked based on the degree of defensibleness, and planning solutions were presented to improve their situation. According to the findings of the research, the physical index of being adjacent to vast wastelands, the environmental index of the darkness of open spaces, the social index of the presence of people sleeping in cardboard boxes, and the economic index of the unemployment rate have the greatest effect on the defenselessness of the neighborhood. Based on this, area number eight (the beginning of Raisi street at the southwest entrance of the neighborhood), area number one (along Sattari street in the east of the neighborhood) and area number seven (between Imam Khomeini and Raisi streets in the west of the neighborhood) are respectively among the most defenseless areas of South Hesa neighborhood. are considered and these areas are prioritized for planning and action.
