The housing social dimension is considered a measure of the growth of any society. One of the factors of the social dimension is the amount and type of social interactions among the residents of that society. However, in new constructions, less attention is paid to the social dimension. By studying in this area, the importance of allocating suitable space for the interaction of the residents of the complex, especially the open and semi-open space, is determined. The purpose of this research is to extract and identify criteria for open and semi-open space in the neighborhood unit that are effective on social interactions. In the literature review step, using the descriptive-analytical method, frequently repeated criteria with high impact capacity were identified, which considered the semi-open space and social interactions. Then, using the method of logical independence and comparative comparison, the criteria that are separate in the interactions were identified. or there is a semi-open space, their commonalities were examined and identified as new criteria, and the frequency of all criteria was obtained through content analysis. Then, using the entropy technique, the weight of all criteria was obtained based on the frequency of the literature on the subject. Priority criteria based on Shannon's entropy are, respectively, access to collective spaces - definition of bodies and identity of walls - space for stopping and thinking and gathering - hierarchy between elements and spaces - ease of access. The criterion of provision of space territory is related to the newly identified criteria, which is one of the ten components with higher weight. Next, based on thematic literature, design solutions related to each of these criteria and their frequency were extracted. Those whose frequency was higher than the average were selected and became the basis of the questionnaire. The questionnaire was completed with the target population (a total of 288 people), active experts in this field and ordinary people in two sites of the 600-unit residential complex and Valiasr residential complex. Questionnaires were measured by Friedman's ranking test, and the degree of importance of solutions was determined, and the opinions of these three categories were compared with each other. The results of the comparison show that those solutions that were more important to the people, but the experts did not pay as much attention to it, are: Achieving aristocracy and privacy through the arrangement and organization of form and components-Achieving aristocracy and privacy through the existence of physical and functional capabilities for various collective uses with specific spatial and time areas - attachment and belonging to a place) through the definition of individual private space to strengthen ownership and belonging. Those solutions that were noticed by experts but less noticed by the general public are: increasing interaction and participation in public spaces through increasing facilities and welfare facilities - achieving comfort through the use of local materials or climatic quality of the area - flexibility and functional diversity through the design of diverse spaces for different strata and increasing the accessibility of people in the area. The solutions that were most interested in both groups are: lighting of the complex at night - ease of access through short and convenient access to commercial, educational and service areas of the city - ease of access through access to the main arteries of the city and public transportation - scenic spaces through increasing the number of trees and plants - flexibility and functional diversity through the design of diverse spaces for different strata and increasing the access of people in the area. The results show that the solutions of nobility, privacy, and belonging to the place are the attention of public questionnaires, and all of them are of providing privacy and the solutions related to social interactions and public facilities and comfort were found as expert solutions. In fact, people and experts moved to one side, but people understand interactions through a sense of solitude.
