This research focuses on examining and compiling documentation related to Mazari workshops in the city of Yazd, particularly with an emphasis on the ZAHRAEI Mazari Workshop. The practice of Mazari, Hennasaei, or Coloration (Rangi-saei) (three elements mentioned in historical documents) in Yazd has a long history. The history of these traditional workshops, their architecture, and the social conditions associated with them are divided into two periods: pre-outsourcing and post-outsourcing. Initially located in the city center and around the Mir-chakhmaq neighborhood, due to complaints and objections from residents regarding health issues, they were forced to leave this location and relocate to a place outside the city center, which is their current location. Due to the lack of research on these traditional workshops, insufficient attention to their history, and the lack of awareness in the scientific and cultural community about this subject, the practice of Mazari, its buildings, and their documented history are at risk of being forgotten. This research serves as a starting point for preserving and recovering this valuable cultural heritage. The research process and data collection involve interpretative methods, the use of interpretative-historical strategies, document analysis, field studies, and attitudinal surveys. Data analysis has been conducted using interpretative-analytical methods and analytical software tools such as SPSS. The research begins by highlighting the importance and introducing the subject, followed by theoretical foundations and literature review. It then proceeds to understand the physical and meta-physical aspects and architectural and social documentation to reach a comprehensive understanding and move towards physical and meta-physical vulnerability assessment.
Building on the understanding and analysis conducted, it examines the proposed intended use and introduces its paradigms. The ZAHRAEI Mazari workshop complex, as part of the conservation plan, will rehabilitate into the "Henna Event Center," encompassing various activities such as exhibitions, sales, research, artistic endeavors, and hospitality. All these uses will be coordinated and harmonized with henna and the history of Mazari to show respect for the authenticity of the structure and pave the way for a future connected to the past.
