One of the most fundamental challenges in housing design today is the return to local culture
and architecture, which can be seen in the works of a number of architects. This is also evident
in Iran because our ancestors over time were able to consciously use local materials, culture
and familiarity with the climate to creatively create suitable spaces. This matter has been
forgotten during the last one hundred years, therefore, the design of residential complexes
compatible with local culture, climate and materials and the general use of local functions of
past architecture in today's housing body can be effective in the continuity of dynamic life and
comfort of the residents to improve the quality of life of the residents. The native architecture
of Kashan city is a prominent example of this architecture. The results of this research show
that in the architecture of Kashan native houses, the climate, culture and materials have been
influential in the formation of the building as a place for the comfort of the residents. The
creation of spaces such as garden pits, windbreaks, basements, porticoes, summer and winter
spaces, and materials such as brick, clay, thatch, and native-local culture, are effective in
creating a suitable space for residents to live and benefit from, and are suggested for
architectural designs in this article.
