  • چكيده
    Abstract Considering to ability of Ceramic-Composite amours and using them in different cases, they may be use as a shield in a variety of environments, such as body armor, personnel carrier, helicopters, tanks and satellites. In this research the armour with constant thickness has been studied that consist of two layers, one is the Boron carbide ceramic and the other is Kevlar 49 fiber composite. By using the Ansys/Lsdyna software, ballistic limit velocity of this armour has been obtained and Heterington’s equation that is about optimum thickness of layers has been verified at constant thickness of armour. Meanwhile it is noted the modified mechanical properties of Kevlar 49 that improved from strain rate, has been used in numerical simulation. Results from the model have confirmed the validity of the Chocron-Galvez’s analytical model and projectile velocity curve, especially at high velocity, has good agreement in analytical and numerical simulations. Finally, impact of projectile to armour has been compared in normal and oblique impacts and results shown the ballistic limit velocity of armour increase in the oblique impact.
