emergence of Distributed Generation (DG) systems, have brought a wide
range of advantages. Green-house gas reduction, pick shaving, power quality
enhancements, and power system reliability improvement are some examples
of these benefits. However, this technology is facing some challenges. The
most important one is the islanding phenomenon. Anti-islanding protection
remains the highest challenge distributed generation should overcome.
Articles have introduced a number of islanding detection methods which have
some advantages, and disadvantages like every protection algorithm.
In this dissertation we introduced an adaptive detection method, which
reduce the other method disadvantages, like a big non-detection zone, or
power quality degradation. This method is applicable to inverter based
islanding detection methods. With a slight variation in output power function
of inverter, a positive feedback emerges. In normal behavior of DG, the
method remains stand-by. With a slight clue of islanding the method becomes
activate and destabilize terminal voltage out of the acceptable region of
voltage relays.
This method has a negligible non-detection zone, for any kind of inverter
control system. It is also secure, and the security doesn’t depend on the grid,
load, or inverter factors.
