چكيده
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine the impact of teaching test-taking strategies to intermediate learners on their performance on reading module of IELTS. After attending the IELTS exam (pretest), the intermediates were selected and assigned to two groups. Group A received instructions on test-taking strategies, and group B received conventional instructions. After the training sessions were over, both groups attended a reading sample of IELTS (posttest). Analysis of the results revealed the effectiveness of test-taking strategies which helped the intermediates who received them to perform better than those who did not receive them without being more knowledgeable. Based on findings, language teachers are recommended to teach test-taking strategies to help IELTS applicants to get higher scores.
