چکيده
This study examines burnout among construction workers and its effects on project outcomes using the Oldenburg Burnout Inventory (OLBI). Burnout is recognized as a global health problem, intensified after the COVID-19 pandemic, and is especially critical in construction due to long hours, physical demands, tight deadlines, and hazardous conditions. The research highlights burnout as a multidimensional syndrome with two main dimensions: exhaustion and disengagement, both of which negatively influence worker well-being and project results. The study addresses an important gap in existing literature by applying a validated psychological tool, the OLBI, to site-based workers and linking their burnout levels to self-reported impacts on project time, cost, quality, productivity, and safety. Data are collected through surveys of construction workers, focusing on their personal experiences and perceptions. The findings are expected to show how worker burnout reduces efficiency, increases risks, and undermines project success, while also emphasizing the need for better health management in the construction industry. The study contributes theoretically by integrating psychological assessment with project performance analysis, and practically by offering insights for managers and policymakers to design strategies that reduce burnout, improve worker well-being, and enhance project outcomes. However, the research is limited by its reliance on self-reported data, its focus on site-based workers only, and its correlational design, which does not prove causality. Despite these limitations, the study highlights the importance of addressing worker mental health as a central factor in achieving sustainable and successful construction projects.
