چکيده
Abstract
As Software-Defined Networking (SDN) continues to evolve, network scalability and controller performance have become crucial research challenges. Traditional SDN architectures rely on a single centralized controller, which simplifies management but introduces latency, limited scalability, and a single point of failure. To address these issues, multi-controller SDN architectures have been proposed, enabling distributed intelligence, fault tolerance, and improved performance in large-scale networks.
This seminar investigates the performance of different SDN controller deployment models under simulated large-scale network environments using tools such as Mininet and Ryu/ONOS/OpenDaylight. Key metrics—such as response time, throughput, packet loss, and controller load balancing—are evaluated to identify performance trade-offs between centralized and distributed control planes.
The results demonstrate that a well-orchestrated multi-controller system significantly enhances scalability, fault tolerance, and latency reduction while maintaining policy consistency. These findings highlight the importance of intelligent controller placement and synchronization mechanisms in achieving efficient and reliable next-generation SDN infrastructures for massive IoT and 5G-ready environments.
