چکيده
The presentation goes into detail about Ascon, the NIST-approved standard for lightweight cryptography, and how important it is for keeping the Internet of Things (IoT) safe. Lightweight cryptography is an important solution since typical cryptographic algorithms like AES and RSA do not work well on devices that have limited processing power, memory, and battery. The paper explains how Asconʹs architecture works. It is constructed on a 320-bit permutation-based sponge construction that makes it very secure, easy to use, and uses very little energy. It critically assesses Asconʹs design attributes, performance across several hardware and software platforms, and its relative benefits against other NIST finalists, including TinyJAMBU, GIFT-COFB, and Romulus. It also talks about the trade-offs between latency, throughput, and power use when implementing it, and it shows how strong it is against differential and linear cryptanalysis. The conference goes beyond just technical efficiency and talks about how Ascon affects society and industry in secure IoT, healthcare, and industrial systems. It ends by pointing out research shortages in areas including post-quantum resilience, side-channel mitigation, and energy-adaptive cryptography. The seminar collectively introduces Ascon as a balanced, scalable, and future-proof cryptographic standard for secure, resource-constrained contexts.
