چکيده
This study aims to review and analyze the scientific literature related to hydraulic fracturing
and acidizing techniques in hydrocarbon reservoirs. The research focuses on addressing
the main challenges associated with hydrocarbon extraction from unconventional
reservoirs and low-permeability formations, where low natural permeability and near
wellbore damage pose significant obstacles to economic production.
The methodology was based on a comprehensive analysis of the latest research and
developments in this field, with emphasis on fundamental mechanisms, modeling, design,
and practical applications. The petrophysical and mechanical properties of rocks and their
impact on selecting the appropriate technique were analyzed, along with the interactions
between reservoir characteristics and stimulation design.
The results revealed fundamental differences between the two techniques in terms of
mechanisms, applications, and efficiency. Hydraulic fracturing relies on mechanical
mechanisms to create fracture networks, while acidizing depends on chemical reactions to
enhance conductivity. The study also demonstrated the potential for higher efficiency
through the integration of both techniques in what is known as hybrid treatments.
The results also highlighted the importance of geological factors and operational conditions
in determining the success of stimulation operations, as well as the environmental
challenges associated with these techniques and ways to address them. The study also
showed recent trends in developing environmentally friendly stimulation fluids, smart
monitoring technologies, and improved modeling and simulation processes.
