  • چکيده
    Plastic waste management, particularly addressing the challenges of Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) waste, has become increasingly urgent in the face of escalating environmental concerns. This paper critically examines glycolysis-based PET recycling, focusing on its potential as a promising solution. Despite its lightweight properties an‎d cost-effectiveness advantages, PET waste poses multifaceted challenges, including contaminant removal, scale-up hurdles, an‎d economic viability. Catalyst optimization an‎d maintaining end-product quality are crucial for enhancing recycling efficiency an‎d market acceptance. Moreover, this review underscores the importance of environmental impact assessments an‎d regulatory compliance in guiding sustainable waste management practices. To overcome infrastructure limitations an‎d foster global collaboration, concerted efforts are needed to educate consumers an‎d facilitate international cooperation. By addressing these challenges, glycolysis-based PET recycling holds promise in mitigating plastic pollution an‎d promoting a circular economy. The paper highlights recent advancements in glycolysis-based PET recycling an‎d examines potential applications for the resultant product, Bis HydroxyEthl Terephthalate (BHET).
