  • چکيده
    The rapid growth of lithium-ion battery applications in portable electronics, electric vehicles, an‎d energy storage systems has resulted in a significant increase in the generation of spent batteries. These end-of-life batteries contain valuable metals, particularly cobalt, which plays a critical role in battery performance an‎d is considered a strategic an‎d limited resource. Improper disposal of spent lithium-ion batteries poses serious environmental risks, while at the same time leading to the loss of high-value materials .This seminar provides a comprehensive overview of cobalt recovery from spent lithium-ion batteries. First, the fundamental structure an‎d material composition of lithium-ion batteries are introduced, with emphasis on cobaltcontaining cathode materials. The general principles of battery recycling, including pretreatment steps an‎d analytical characterization, are then discussed. Subsequently, the main cobalt recovery routes are reviewed, covering pyrometallurgical, hydrometallurgical, an‎d biohydrometallurgical processes .Special attention is given to hydrometallurgical methods, which currently represent the most efficient an‎d widely studied approach for cobalt recovery. In addition, emerging green an‎d sustainable techniques such as organic acid leaching, deep eutectic solvents, an‎d ionic liquids are examined an‎d compared with conventional processes. The advantages, limitations, an‎d future potential of each recovery method are critically discussed .Overall, this seminar highlights the technical feasibility an‎d environmental importance of cobalt recovery from lithium-ion batteries. The integration of efficient recovery processes with green chemistry principles is identified as a key strategy for achieving sustainable battery recycling an‎d supporting a circular economy.
