چکيده
The ubiquitous integration of Internet of Things (IoT) devices into critical infrastructure, healthcare, and smart cities has expanded the cyber-attack surface exponentially. Unlike traditional IT environments, IoT networks consist of heterogeneous, resource-constrained devices that often lack the computational power to support standard defense mechanisms, leading to an escalation in sophisticated attacks like botnet-driven DDoS and invasive privacy breaches. This seminar presents a systematic literature review aimed at dissecting the current threat landscape by analyzing vulnerabilities across the modern Five-Layer IoT Architecture (Perception, Transport, Processing, Application, and Business). Each layer is critically examined to identify specific weaknesses, from physical tampering at the sensor level to complex authentication failures within business logic, necessitating a multi-tiered defense strategy.
Furthermore, this study investigates emerging defensive paradigms tailored for these hardware constraints, including Lightweight Cryptography (e.g., ASCON and PRESENT), Blockchain-based decentralized trust, and Federated Learning for privacy preservation. These technologies represent a shift toward decentralized security, where trust is established without relying on a single point of failure. By evaluating real-world attack vectors, such as the Mirai botnet and Stuxnet, the research highlights the devastating potential of IoT security failures and the evolving methodologies used by adversaries to compromise industrial and consumer systems.
Finally, the seminar addresses practical deployment challenges, focusing on the critical trade-offs between security strength, communication latency, and energy efficiency. The ultimate goal is to categorize robust security frameworks capable of operating within strict operational constraints, offering a strategic roadmap for securing the next generation of autonomous and resilient IoT ecosystems. The findings aim to bridge the gap between theoretical cryptographic solutions and the practical requirements of real-time, large-scale IoT deployments.
