  • چکيده
    Recent advances in construction project risk analysis have marked a clear shift away from the routine use of checklists an‎d static risk matrices, an‎d towards more dynamic, data-driven, an‎d whole-system approaches that can actually capture how risks start to build up, interact with each other, an‎d snowball over time. While traditional tools still have a use as a first port of call, they can often miss the way modern project failures often occur, especially when a bunch of small, seemingly unrelated issues suddenly combine to cause a catastrophe. This seminar will take a closer look at some of the new models, such as machine learning classifiers, Bayesian networks, BIM-integrated digital twins, fuzzy hybrid decision systems, an‎d the Synergy an‎d Accumulation Model for Analysis (SAMA) to help practitioners an‎d researchers choose the appropriate model for their research, considering the advantages an‎d characteristics of each model, as well as the limitations an‎d requirements they impose. It will also reveal a number of scientific gaps that need to be addressed through further research. There will be particular focus on the practical challenges of operating in countries like Iraq where data is scarce an‎d digital resources are limited. The end aim is to move beyond the ʹtick the boxesʹ type of risk analysis an‎d towards strategic, forward-thinking decision-making that strengthens project resilience an‎d stops disasters before they even happen.
