  • چکيده
    This study explores the integration of electrokinetic phenomena—such as electroosmosis, electrophoresis, streaming potential, an‎d sedimentation potential—into both microfluidic an‎d micro-nonfluidic systems. These mechanisms are examined for their ability to improve performance, reduce power consumption, an‎d enable programmable control in microscale environments. By bridging theory, fabrication, modeling, an‎d real-world applications, the research highlights how electrokinetics is transforming the design an‎d function of next-generation microsystems. The study begins with an overview of electrokinetic fundamentals, providing a detailed discussion of the physical principles an‎d flow mechanisms governed by electric fields. It then investigates the structural an‎d functional differences between microfluidic an‎d micro-nonfluidic platforms, outlining their respective materials, fabrication methods, an‎d operational challenges. A core contribution of the research is the theoretical modeling of coupled electrokinetic–hydrodynamic systems using the Poisson–Nernst–Planck–Stokes framework. This model supports predictive simulations for device design. The work further presents design strategies such as electrode layout, surface modification, an‎d hybrid integration with sensing an‎d logic elements. Several case studies are analyzed, including DNA lab-on-chip systems, wearable sweat sensors, ionic logic gates, an‎d self-powered microharvesters. These examples demonstrate the practical value of electrokinetic coupling across medicine, energy, an‎d unconventional computation. The final chapter concludes that electrokinetic phenomena serve as a foundational pillar for future microsystem design. It recommends interdisciplinary collaboration, investment in scalable fabrication, an‎d development of smart hybrid platforms as key strategies moving forward.
