Abstract: In recent years, with the rapid growth in wireless communication applications, the increasing consumption of energy and demand for higher rates has become critical. As one of the emerging wireless technologies, Cognitive radio provide spectrum efficiency with dynamic access. In the other hand, Energy harvesting as helpful method of green communication is used for energy efficiency. In this thesis, a cognitive radio network is considered in which that secondary users is feeded from local energy sources. By combining cognitive radio and energy harvesting, secondary user can optimally use the accessiable spectrum and energy to access the higher rates.
At first, throuphout rate between secondary users is considered as an objective function with subject to energy and interference constraints. Actually, secondary user determine the optimum policy for timing of enrgy harvesting and spectrum sensing. Optimum policy is dependent on channel condition, amount of energy and primary user parameters.
Secondary user divides each time frame to three harvesting-sensing-transmition intervals. We consider fading channels and use energy detection method and multi-slot spectrum sensing. Two kind of multi-slot spectrum sensing methods are used, data fusion and decision fusion. Numerical results are presented for computing optimum sensing parameters and analysing the role of different parameters on throughput.
