Proper performance of supply chain plays a key role in its success at achieving its goals and especially its profitability stably. Many researchers believe that continuous improvement in a supply chain is possible only by relying on appropriate performance measurement. In other words, performance measurement is considered as a tool that a supply chain provides for itself thereby to know improving its condition or have plummeted.
Since different supply chains have their own unique characteristics and require separate examination; in this study, the steel industry supply chain is examined considering its place and importance in development of the country. Considering that several approaches have been introduced to assess supply chain performance, in this thesis we first introduce the most important approaches to assess a supply chain performance briefly. Then, since the supply chain experts in the industry have chosen balanced scorecard approach for performance measurement of their supply chain, this approach was further examined and articles relevant to this approach will be explained in more details.
Because balanced scorecard approach don’t suggest a specific structure for selecting more important criteria, as well as determining the relationships between these criteria, in this study, we have used fuzzy DEMATEL and fuzzy ANP techniques for determining priorities of performance criteria and relations among them. The results show that the measure of customer satisfaction is allocated highest priority among performance metrics.
In addition, according to the evaluation criteria priority is not sufficient for improving supply chain performance regardless of the cause-effect relationships between them lonely, Using system dynamics to consider the relationship between these selection criteria and then, in order to improve their supply chain performance, different promoter policies offer and their results were evaluated. The results suggest that by simultaneous implementation of these policies, customer satisfaction of supply chain will increase until 87 percent and Iran Alloy Steel Company as the main manufacturer of the supply chain could increase its profitability 7.5 percent approximately as well.
