ABSTRACT
Saving lives and sfety in rail transport, is one of the transport policies in all countries. Although, with the advancement of science, knowledge and well-equipped transport fleet, the accidents have been reduced continuously, but a number of factors, including human factors prevents these tragic events to vanish all together.
By studying railway accidents, we realize that, one of the most important factors that is accounted for the highest percentage in the creation of accidents is human factors, and almost 60% of rail accidents is caused by human error. Therefore, recognition and analysis of this factor along with a proper strategy to reduce or eliminate it, play an important role in reducing accidents.
Factors that are causing human errors may be divided in four groups as: 1. Nature of the work, 2. Psychological factors 3. Guiding, control and monitoring. 4. Lack of full implementation of rules and regulations. Managers must fully implement and monitor the general rules of the railway and training can be named as one of the most important and main factor of preventing accidents and apprenticeship should be considered as a very important factor and management need to have proper planning for human resources requirements. As a result, with the help of opening classes, staff training and retraining and restore order, staff examinations, acceleration of the renovation and reconstruction of the rail fleet, using modern systems maintenance (PM), accident analysis using (FMEA) techniques, safety techniques TQM, increased control of personnel, reducing the role of human resources in the operations, moving activities and attention to the welfare of staff, we can reduce rail accidents.
The purpose of this seminar is to identify and evaluate the role of human factors in railway accidents, through study of related reports and articles and reaching appropriate conclusions and solutions.
