Abstract:
Nature's activities are always in a way to preserve balance and sustainability, but humans' manipulations work in opposite direction, and war is the worse type of these manipulations.
Throughout the history, artists have tried to stop wars, using the art power. Lots of art works have been made in reaction to wars. Different movements are formed and this trend is going on.
Architecture is one of the first and also most important victims of war, however, if we look deeply we will find that there wasn't sufficient effort to study the effects of war on architecture and the role of architecture in peace making procedure, comparing to other types of arts. Whereas it seems architecture has this power to make people familiar with the literature of peace, calmness and security from childhood, and reduce their tendency to violence in the future.
This study is an attempt to get to know a phenomenon named war and the interaction between war, peace and art throughout history, and also determining their effect on architecture to define a term called architecture of peace.
Hence, we have studied various sources in the fields of war, peace and architecture and collected data by library method; mutual key words were extracted and arranged by the rate of usage by qualitative content analysis method. In this way we could achieve bases of architecture of peace.
In conclusion, the role of architecture in social movements was appeared and we found some solutions to achieve peace via architecture of peace. By following these solutions we can give human beings the message of peace from their living space and wait for similar response
