Abstract:
Presentation of Firm Board Structure and Performance in Small and Medium Contracting Enterprises
Board Member’s importance, as one of the most important mechanism in corporate governance, is being apparent more and more every day. They are the basis for the company's core identity in internal sovereignty. The main objective of this study is to identify the relationship between board structure and organizational performance in small and medium-sized pivate companies, as contractors, which are active in the water field in Iran.
For this purpose, the board structure with six dimensions such as size, composition of members, the board of directors’ experiences in the company, duality role of one person in managing director and chairman position, self-evaluation and performing small activities as independent variables and as organizational performance variable with five axis, including revenue growth, operational profit growth, net profit growth, return on assets and return on equity as dependent variable were examined.
In this study, the effects of the above mentioned factors on organizational performance of 30 companies which are active in the field of water and have rank one issued by the Management and Planning Organization as contractors were examined with survey method. The results indicate that the organizational performance correlated positively with the size and experience of the company's Board of Directors.
