Based on the radar mechanism, which transmit a signal to the subject and process the received one from scattering waves, radar cross section reduction (RCSR) has a particular importance in stealth so many literatures have worked on it.
In this thesis a novel approach on the RCSR is considered which is based on transformation optics (TO). The coordinate transformation based on the invariance of Maxwell equations is the main concept of presented design method. In fact there is a one-to-one correspondence between the coordinate transformation of Maxwell's equations in free space and Maxwell's equations in a complex media. So with this tool we can control the wave path arbitrarily. Now we use this powerful tool to reduce the RCS of canonical PEC shapes.
In the first chapter, as a literature review the transformation optics is explained and its applications are presented. As a first method, by mimicking the rough surfaces to have scattering in all directions, a new is presented in chapter two. In the third chapter, it is explained how bend the wave in which there is no scattering from the PEC plate. The last method is presented is chapter four which work on complex coordinate transformation.
