Non Revenue Water (NRW) is a portion of water produced in water supply system, which appears as water loss and increases the financial losses of the water and wastewater companies. Given the limitations of water resources, the approach among others taken by water and wastewater companies is to use the available ones efficiently and to reduce NRW, which imposes high costs on the utilities. To this end, reduction of costs and improvement of the quality of processes may increase efficiency. Pure thought is recognized as a method for identification and removal of Non value for money components in production and services, causing each process to be presented at optimum efficiency.
The current research addresses the combination of the two subjects of non revenue water and pure thought, offering a new methodology to water and wastewater companies for accurate identification of modalities and actions on improvement of the NRW reduction processes.
The innovative methodology proposed in this study is called “the pure methodology of NRW reduction”. The proposed model includes stages, which improve all inputs for NRW reduction process by eliminating the losses. To validate the improvements, the monitoring indications are assessed and in the end a case study is analyzed.
