Abstract
Urban morphology is one of the most important sources perusing city, human activities,and currents that take place in it. The form and structure of cities have been designed to realize activities and behaviors taken from ideologies, hence in their designing, qualities and norms should be considered according to those ideologies and behaviors.
Islamic city which in a sense is to be as the expression of Islamic believes, doctrines and duties, should also, in its form and structure be of such qualities that incite (bring about) Islamic behavior and noble religious believes. In the physical structure of Islamic-Iranian cities, neighborhoods with specific structural and social features have a critical role in satisfying the behavioral needs of its residents, as the primary place where actions and social behaviors take place. Hence the form and physical aspects of neighborhood should be designed and organized in such a way that corresponds with the ideology and behavior of its residents. What are these norms and qualities and how they can be achieved and in what framework the morphology of Islamic-Iranian neighborhood can be defined; are of the most important questions in this area.
From the Islamic view; these qualities should be derived from authentic Islamic sources, such as the Holy Quran, Hadiths Jurisprudence and the teachings obtained from them. The Islamic-Iranian city and neighborhood is not just located in a specific geographical and historical point, but actually depending on location and time period ask for special requirements. So looking at the special characteristics of cities and neighborhoods which have been built in accordance to Islamic geography, and traditional cities of the Islamic period, can be a very important and strategic source in the extraction of desirable qualities.
In this study which is a basic research and ultimately can be considered as an applied one, [the researcher] has used a qualitative method to explain the basic and primary concepts of the issue and then tries to explain and define Islamic-Iranian city and its structural components through the Islamic-Iranian geography and also authentic religious sources , and based on them defines the morphology of Islamic-Iranian neighborhood as it comes here:” The Morphology of Islamic-Iranian Neighborhood is a perusal of shape and form of physical elements and conceptually-geometric tools on the basis of norms and qualities extracted from the Holy Quran, Hadiths, and Islamic teachings, which has been shaped into solidity through Islamic and Iranian geography and the qualities derived from them. It is also compatible with Islamic goals. And by this has helped the residents of the cities and neighborhoods in realization of three goals; the worship of God, formation and fulfillment of the concept of Ummah, and the maintenance of the public rights; which leads to ultimately getting close to God and divine perfection. This perusal would bring into light the Muslim approach of the citizens”.
Finally to deepen the resulting theoretical framework and reaching its realization tools, “ Ard Foroushan” neighborhood from the old city of Lar has been selected as a case study sample and its qualities have been extracted and analyzed according to theoretical framework and in the end, a vision and framework for morphological designing has been suggested beside a design guiedelines for neighborhood morphology with an Islamic-Iranian approach.
