To the city designers and experts, Townscape is one of the most important sources perusing cities’ human activities, and current that take place in cities. The scape and structure of cities have been designed to realize activities and behaviors taken from ideologies, hence in their designing, qualities and norms should be considered according to those ideologies and behaviors.
Creative city which in a sense is to be as a place of manifestation and accomplishment for the Creative class of the society, should also, in its scape and image be of such qualities that incite formation of creative structure and promoting individuals’ viewpoint abilities and special incarnation.
In the structure of Creative cities scape, street and square as the first urban public spaces with their specific objective and visual features have a critical role in satisfying the creative behavioral needs of its resident, as the primary place where curious action and partnerships take place.
Satisfying experiencing the discovery of new and different place, the excitant role of natural environments and compatibility of actions is severely interrelated to some innovative characteristics like curiosity, playing, partnership and imagination. Hence the visual aspects of city should be designed and organized in such a way that by persuading people’s feeling and inspiration leads it residents’ social and perception growth. Utilizing the environmental potentials affecting on mind and behavior to improve creativity is solely feasible through determining a framework for designing townscape. Therefore reaching to these qualities and norms and the way of accomplishing them is the most important issue in cityscape designing.
In the psychologist courses, these qualities derived from authentic psychologist sources. To add more to this issue and comprehensively investigating it, however looking at the special characteristics of cities and town, can be a very important and strategic sources in the extraction of desirable qualities.
In this study which is a R&D research, the researcher has used a mixture (qualitative and quantitative) method to explain the basic and primary concepts of the issue and then tries to explain and define creative cities and its visual components through inquiring into the theorists’ views and opinions as well as the primary sources of environmental psychology and scape designing, the qualities and features resulted to the structural scape of creative city are derived in a conceptual framework on which the creative scape defined as: “Creative scape is the reflection of innovation and creativity in cityscape, in such a way that persuading the natural environmental and compatibility of actions leads to the accomplishment of some creative characteristics such as curiosity and imagination.”
Finally to deepen the resulting theoretical framework and researching its realization tools, “Shiraz north-south axis” in the connection between main gate and the old city of Shiraz, has been selected as a case study sample and its qualities have been extracted and analyzed according to theoretical framework and in the end, a visional and framework for cityscape designing has been suggested beside a design guideline for townscape designing with creative city approach.
