Abstract:
In the three-dimensional studies show in most specimens under mode II loading, created inductive mode III and mode III loading, created inductive mode II. This study show the importance of this issue in fracture mechanics but due to the complexities of this analysis, coupling phenomenon has not been considered in some three-dimensional problems.
In the present study, to examine the phenomenon of coupling between modes II and III, different specimen with different geometries have been studied. To investigate this phenomenon, pure mode II and pure mode III have been applied. In the applied pure mode II, two separate cases have been used. The first sample is ASFPB specimen with the crack edge and the second specimen is perforated ASFPB with edge crack. By applying pure mode II to these two pieces, all the stress intensity factors in the crack front were investigated and for different geometric parameters, coupling modes II and III phenomenon, in the thickness direction and the intermediate plate thickness were studied. For application of pure mode III , 3 specimens have been used. First specimen is a circular rod with circular crack. The torsional load was apllied to show examples of low intensity mode coupling. The second specimen, edge cracked beam under twisting of a head stuck and the third specimen, Plate cracked under pure mode III. Results obtained as applied pure mode II offered. Finally pure mode III is compared with the pure mode II, and critical places are provided for coupling phenomenon.
