Abstract
Hub networks have been used extensively in various industries including transportation and telecommunications. Hub location problems are new issues of location problems that have raised in the last decade. In the majority of hub location problems, it is assumed that the system always operates correctly and facilities are located without considering disruption. But in the real world facilities or hub network node links may be disrupted. Not only facility disruption has serious operational consequences, such as higher freight costs, delayed orders, inventory shortages, and loss of market share but also it spreads negative financial impacts.
In this study first we consider disruption of hub facilities in the context of hub location and then in the framework of hub location under disruption we investigated hub location network service under disruption of one or several facilities. In case of facility disruption, we use backup hub strategy as substitution of disrupted hubs in order to enhance reliability of hub network in such a way that the possibility of using back up for hub facilities along the transition route in the first and second hub is investigated. Simultaneously in order to improve services in hub network in case of disruption, we use hub covering to cover disrupted hubs. Consequently we propose a single allocation hub covering and backup hub location model under disruption. We used the U.S.A aviation transportation data to verify and validate our proposed model and solve it with Lagrangian Relaxation.
