Satellite communications development and the necessity of its employment considering current technological progress is sine qua non. Satellite communications may cause to provide various increasing advances and development in different parts of trade and industry especially in information technology area. Although the development of satellite communications is a must and not a choice, but firstly it would be better to study its arising threats and opportunities to be able to manage this phenomenon by a more accurate knowledge and planning. The aim of current study is to implement a scientific and systematic study in the field of satellite communications to identify and rank of threats and opportunities of this phenomenon in the area of trade, industry and security. For this purpose, first an open questionnaire was designed and distributed between satellite communications industry experts to identify probable threats and opportunities. After collecting questionnaires and extracting the resulting outcomes we could recognize the threats and opportunities. Then by designing a standard questionnaire based on meaningful and importance of each identified factors and distributing it between experts, the meaningfulness of recognized threats and opportunities be evaluated and the indexes are finalized. In the next step by using Analytical Hierarchy Process and Pairwise Comparisons method the weight of each factor are evaluated in two separate models of threat and opportunity. Finally after weight estimation of each factor of weighted Decision Matrix, taking action of ranking the threats and opportunities arising from development of satellite communications. Eventually final prioritization of threats and opportunities are provided.
