In this thesis, a model has been presented to determine the fleet size and its allocation
manner to rail network regarding to the economic parameters. In such issues, yet
economic parameters have not been considered and they have always sought the factors
and technical limitations in order to dedicate the fleet to definite and predicted demand,
but by considering the economic parameters and without making the model complex, the
thesis has looked for a more real model from determination of fleet size. Hence, a better
model of fleet size determination has been given by using a nonlinear model and
demand specification regarding to the transport cost. Moreover, to perceive the
presented model much more, a numerical example and a case study have been
investigated. Ultimately, the conclusion has been extracted and more suggestions have
been made for more research on this subject.
