Considering the hospitals current condition in Iran, we can distinguish some
problems and issues such as lack of facilities and appreciate surrounding, lack of
attention to patients needs and mentality and effects of environment on patients
mental and physical conditions and current inefficient system of hospital and medical
services construction. Finally such conditions lead to medical unefficiency in
hospital, publics fear of medical environments, prolonged hospitalization and phases
of treatment which are followed by a economic efficiency reduction.
This research, tries to account these issues and bring in the identity of them in a form
of Tabriz north-east 150 bed hospital design, is a case study and these steps are
followed on the way to the final design. Method of data collection in plan to examine
the issue (form and content), theoretical bases of the medical centers design, research
study related to healing architecture qualities, experience of others and scale of the
metropolis (Tabriz), is documentary. But the attitude to mid-scale and macro-scale of
design and analysis are field study method.
The purpose is to review hospital design, improve the condition with a look back to
hospital design. Practicing users ideas in healing centers design is one of the ways of
improving conditions which accelerate the process of healing by reducing stress on
patients and increasing their control on environment. Patients involvement in design
and healing process, paying attention to human mental characteristics and using new
theoric methods are effective fundamental factors in this alteration. Therefore, the
other purpose of this thesis is to achieve publics environmental preferences in
hospitals. In the same context, patients preferences are devided to two main parts,
desired facilities and desired activities. Facilities are instrumental (tools,
furniture,…), anatomical (light, quality, color,…) and environmental, including
sufficient space for desired activities. Desired activities include activities like games,
painting, music,… which are formed on new healing methods and are iqbal case by
patients.
