In this work influence of geometrical non-idealities on bearing performance in rotor dynamics has been studied. After introducing the Reynolds equation, different types of non-idealities are introduced, and their relation with the radius of journal is presented. Then, these relations are introduced into the film thickness equation and also their derivatives are calculated in order to apply in Reynolds equation. In the next step, numerical solution for the Reynolds equation using finite element method is presented. The results show that changing in the journal’s section in longitudinal direction results in the change of rotor orbit. However, the frequency spectrum shows that this change doesn't have any effect on excitement of the non-synchronous frequencies. While changing the radius of the journal in transversal direction, in addition to change the speed and journal orbit, also affects its frequency spectrum and excites the non-synchronous frequencies.
