The importance of public transportation and renewable energies are completely clear but unfortunately the usage of renewable energy in railway industry has not been studied in Iran. Therefore, in this thesis, we decided to study the feasibility or non-applicability of useage of renewable energy in the rail industry by examining the technical and economic issues in the discussion of new energies such as solar energy, as well as rail industry issues. The first part in planning for the use of solar arrays is studying and estimating the intensity of solar radiation in the studied area, Tabriz city. After estimating the intensity of radiation in the Tabriz by geographical simulation, different models were reviewed for optimal angle adjustment and ultimately the optimal tilt angle for the Tabriz city detected as 33 degrees. The adjustment of this angle reduced the size of solar arrays as much as 15.5%. Due to the variable load characteristics of the rail industry in terms of time and place, using solar panels would make it absolutely necessary to use the maximum power point tracker. In this study, a new method for tracking the maximum power point has been introduced, which has been obtained from hybridization of fuzzy logic and incremental conductivity method. In this method, the number of input variables and rules will be reduced in order to there are just two rules and also the volume, complexity and Implementation costs will go down. Another advantage of this method is that its performance is independed from the load profile and solar panel profile, and it shows a higher accuracy Compared to the pure fuzzy method. Finally, an economic survey of the construction of a solar tunnel has also been made, which sows solar tunnel can reduce the cost of purchasing land by approximately 73%. Our Studies show that the use of solar panels for generating required power for railway industrial, in accordance with the proposed method of this thesis, is possible from technical point of view and cost-effective from economic outlook and in result solar energy is good option from economic, technical and other perspectives, such as social, environmental, health, politics, etc. to be replaced with fossil fuels.
