Nowadays, developed countries use energy policies and sustainable development as strategic tools to avhieve a competitive advantage in the global market and to create green jobs. Escalating energy and material costs, concerns for the environment and the need to reduce natural resource consumption create sustainable development. Green construction uses ecologically safe materials and energy efficient design as tools to reduce resource consumption and minimize the negative effect on the environment. Building green increases profit margins; however, some home builders choose the conventional process construction model.
In this study, we elucidate the key success factors for green innovation and sustainable development in construction industry by questionnaire and combined with literature review factors. Then we analyzed their causal feedback and deployed a compound method to construct systematic analysis of causal feedback through a model exploring the reality and importande of key success factors. When we use system theory in an integrated DEMATEL, ISM and ANP approach, it allows us the benefits of interactive complementarity to establish a useful composite method of research for attacking complex problems. The integrated method can consider the combined features of various factors, interaction between the direction and intensity, structural characteristics of the level of the factors, key success factors relative importance and use a causal feedback visualization graphics in a presentation useful for managers and researchers and provide communication and organizational tools to better understand the complex issues they face. This study identified knowledge/awareness and political factors as the most important drivers for green innovation and sustainable development. There is a need to create and improve awareness and knowledge amongst the various actors in the construction industry. The success of green innovation and sustainable development is highly reliant on the commitment of government and the formation of legislation. The influence of financial factors in linked group has been well recognized. The additional financial cost and client worries in profitability are major barriers to the implementation of sustainable construction.
