Abstract
The development of cities has had adverse effects on the sustainable structure of nature, ecosystems and, consequently, living organisms. Environmental pollution, the formation of thermal islands and air pollution can be described as problems caused by the unsustainable development of cities and neglect of the environment. Transforming gardens and green spaces within the city to increase residential per capita and neglecting ecology is a factor in exacerbating these problems. In the neighborhood of Ozgol, the increase in per capita housing causes the destruction of trees and the process of destruction of the desired climate is intensified. Following the increase in construction, the environmental balance of the region will be eliminated and there will be irreparable issues. Therefore, attention to the importance of ecosystems in urban design for sustainable cities is a requirement of design, and a eco-urban design creates a sustainable and self-sustaining city. Due to the environmental conditions of the transnational area, neighborhoods must be made to move towards localism. The present thesis attempts to move the neighborhood to ecological orientation with a eco-design in Ozgol neighborhood. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to achieve a cohesive and comprehensive eco-neighborhood of existing functions by providing guidelines and following the characteristics of the eco-neighborhood, and the method of doing research is qualitative.
Therefore, with regard to the above, the thesis is compiled in five chapters. The first chapter addresses the general issues of the subject, including the issue's expression, the necessity of the subject, the questions and the goals of the research. In the second chapter, the theoretical foundations of the research have been studied. First, the terminology of keywords such as sustainability, sustainable development and ecology has been investigated, then the history of ecology has been discussed, in the following, the concepts related to ecology are explored, with the aim and findings of each one being examined. Then, the definitions of each of the concepts related to the subject are discussed, and finally the indicators of the eco-neighborhood will be extracted according to the views of the experts. From which the guidelines for designing the eco-neighborhood have been reached and ultimately reached the theoretical framework of the research. In the third chapter, there has been a review of global experiences in the field of ecology, which includes two examples in the US and France, and an internal sample in Yazd. Finally, each with extracted indicators is measured from theoretical bases and their eco-design will be examined. The fourth chapter deals with the study of the neighborhood of Ozgol and finally analyzes the current situation in the neighborhood. In the fifth chapter, we present the design model and also present the goals, strategies and policies to the design of the neighborhood based on the findings of the theoretical foundations of the research.
Ultimately, with the design, efforts have been made to transform Ozgol into a neighborhood that, with its past identity, is able to meet its own needs. The project seeks to respond to some neighborhood needs based on the new definitions of the eco-neighborhood, which they have achieved through the defined ecology criteria. The design results include: creating an appropriate spatial structure and neighborhood coherence, increasing pedestrian functionality, building a business pole, strengthening social spaces, reviving gardens, creating canal corridor and improving energy use, using strategies designed to each has been dealt with.
