The use of the structure of holding companies in the today’s competitive environment is common in many countries and also in Iran. These companies with benefiting from extensive financial resources, they have considerable influence in their subsidiary companies and also in national economy. And we can say that how to manage holding companies has become an important issue. In parenting companies, parent headquarters can determine how to interact and measure the degree of independence or intervention in the strategies of affiliated companies. Three parenting styles have been identified in holding companies strategic planning styles, strategic control styles, and financial control style.
In this research, based on the descriptive-analytic approach, a model is presented to determine the parenting style of holding companies.
At first, based on the library method and research on the researches carried out in this area, 39 criteria were used to determine the parenting style and using the content validity ratio (CVR), 30 criteria were approved. Then these criteria are examined by exploratory factor analysis method. As a result, criteria are divided into 6 factors and 27 criteria are approved.
In the next step, confirmatory factor analysis confirms the validity of the factors and the model obtained. In the final stage, these criteria are ranked by the experts in order to obtain the appropriate style of holding using the Topsis method. The weight of the criteria is also determined by the Shannon entropy method.
This model was used in the Pasargad group holding to determine parenting style and the style of "financial control" was chosen as the appropriate parenting style in this holding.
