One of the most prominent features emphasized in the resistance economy, is being knowledge-based. For this reason, organization of the national innovation system is of a great importance. The aim of present study is to find the position of the national innovation system in strengthening the national economy. Primarily it is necessary to make a precise explanation of the resistance economy. In this regard, using the method of thematic analysis, the identification of common approaches to the resistance economy has been addressed. By reviewing the literatures on this issue and assessing the documented and non-doccumented papers and researches and with the help of semi-structured interviews with experts (using snow ball sampling method) and after coding the concepts related to the issue, the comprehensive themes of "enhancing the economic strength" as a short-term goal,"tackling threats and sanctions" as a strategic policy and "native insight consistent with the Iranian, Islamic and revolutionary values" as a platform for strengthening the national economy based on the resistance economic approach was introduced. To ensure the validity and reliability of the present research, the qualified validating criteria “Credibility” and “Dependability” were assessed using two methods of “Triangulation” of date and “Gain feedback from participants”. Thus the “enhancing the economic strength” that involves two organizer themes of increasing the resiliency and decreasing vulnerability were used as the basis of analyzing the effect of national innovation system on strengthening the economy. In the following, the analysis of the impact of the national innovation system, as a tool for policy analysis and guidance, was discussed in the policy of increasing economic strength. Then, the impact of the national innovation system, as a tool for analysis and assessment of policy, was analysed for increasing economic strength. The results indicate that the national innovation system has a useful and effective role in increasing the level of economic resilience, but the more important factor is the attention to the national capacity of innovation and the absorptive capacity of innovation. In fact for the functions of national innovation system to be effective on strengthening of national economy, it is necessary to enhance the absorptive capacity of innovation at the firm level along with increasing the capacity of innovation. Also the results confirm that the proper function of national innovation system is along with enhancing the properties of resistance economy (knowledge-based, people-based, justice-based, endogenous and extroverted economy).
