Abstract
Iran's past habitats have been relatively self-sufficient, while today's cities and villages are dependent on their needs. Self-sufficient habitat, based on Iranian architectural and cultural experiences, provides a suitable platform for the formation of native culture and architectural identity in each regions and provides new horizons in cultural research and the architecture of Iran. The comprehensive self-sufficiency of habitats, as a valuable heritage, has formed Iranian-Islamic habitats as well as extensive research as a new habitat pattern for the developed countries of the world. Research in This area is of great importance both in historical and prospective research. Paying attention to the necessities of national development and to accelerate the flow of economically viable, can add to the importance of this issue is; the formation of self-sufficient habitats, in addition to providing the right exploitation of land resources, provides the necessary infrastructure for economically sustainable development.
This study uses a survey of the pattern of participation culture in design of a self-sufficient residential complex. In order to reach the dimensions of self-sufficiency, the dominant perspectives were reviewed in written sources. After reviewing the resources, sources and related views were selected. The information was categorized and self-efficacy dimensions were extracted. By analyzing the data, the proposed self-sufficiency model was proposed and the ideas of the underlying architecture of various dimensions of self-sufficiency were proposed. Then, the ideas of the architectural context of increasing the participation of inhabitants were evaluated by questioning of sociologists and architects and analyzing their responses by statistical tests and self-sufficient residential complex was designed based on them.
