Research has shown that unintentional accidents are one of the most important causes of disability, permanent abnormalities and child deaths in their first five years of life around the world, Iran is among the countries with the highest mortality rates due to accidents in the world and every year many children experience incidents that affect their family and community with financial and emotional consequences of the accident. Unsafe environmental conditions are a major contributor to many childhood incidents and since children under the age of 5 years old spend most of their time at home, they are more likely to experience these incidents at home. The purpose of this research is to identify the centers of safety reduction and risk increasing in Iranian homes to predict and prevent the accidents. this research attempts to answer two questions: First, what places in home has the most rate of incidence for children and how is it possible to prevent home-made injuries by using design; and the Research hypothesis is: “There is a meaningful correlation between the awareness of Iranian parents about the safety of children at home and the management of risks”. In response to the first question, a questioning method and reviewing the previous studies was used; the results showed that according to the parents' views, the potential risks in Kitchens, living rooms, rooms, bathrooms and bathrooms are the most perilous for children, according to the design and layout of the home. In response to the second question, the investigations related to the incidents and the ways of preventing them were also considered and the results showed that environmental design and engineering modifications, focusing on child users, are suitable design methods to prevent children from being harmed at home. A questionnaire has been developed to reject or prove the hypothesis and was answered by parents of children under the age of 3 years, and the results showed that parents considering the level of awareness about the dangers at home, take precautionary measures that prove the hypothesis of this research. Also, in the process of advancing this project, the child-centered design, which is sub-branch of the user-centered design, has been used and the field studies showed that that existing products in the market are inadequate to mitigate the dangers of homes for users of Iranian homes. Finally, the best designs were selected, the manufacturing considerations were made and the final design was presented.
