Abstract:
Sustainable development is now classically portrayed as the interface between environmental, economic, and social sustainability. Among the three commonly accepted pillars of sustainable development the social dimension is often the vaguest in practical attempts to shape sustainable development. Also most of academic studies about social sustainability focused on defining and theorizing multiple and fluid interpretations of concept. To help address this issue, this paper introduces a model that was developed by engaging experts in the construction industry. To do so, this research adopts fuzzy cognitive map (FCM) to model different factors affecting the social sustainability of a project. The social factors that led to the achievement of a sustainable construction are then prioritized using the proposed FCM approach and the various factors affecting the social dimension of sustainability are finally ranked using the performed dynamic and static analysis.
