In this thesis, the bentonite clay is employed to prepare geopolymer to remove heavy
metals such as Cu, Pb, Ni, Cd and Hg from industrial wastewaters. The geopolymer
composite using Fe3O4 nanoparticles as adsorbent of heavy metals from aqueous solution
were investigated. The influence of different contact times and different initial
concentration of used metal ions on the procedure of sorption were examined. The
prepared geopolymer and naocomposite samples were characterized by FTIR, FESEM,
TGA, BET surface area and XRD. The results showed the synthesized geopolymer from
bentonit clay has excellent adsorption for the sorption of copper, lead, and nickel and
cadmium ions from industrial wastewaters. This investigation has the advantages such as
environmentally friendly, inexpensive production process, easy to work in normal
conditions and highest yields in the shortest time.
