Abstract:
Understanding the behavior of fluid in a porous bed is very important in various industries and research. Due to changes in the properties of fluid during its passage through a porous bed, the study of fluid behavior along the porous medium bedding is inevitable. The results of studies indicate that fluid physics around these environments is assumed to be homogeneous with the internal structure of porous particles.
Similar work is very much in this area, but the factor that distinguishes this project from other researches is that the project examines the parameters of pressure drop, friction coefficient, flow rate and flow direction for irregular carbon particles Active grain has been irregularly shaped. Most of the work has been done on or similar to standard particles, or one or two parameters have been evaluated, and none of them has investigated the effect of gravity on the active carbon granulant. In this project, it has been tried to study the effects of gravity on the amount of particle permeability and the loss of porous media pressure by designing a preset table for the desired laboratory device in the direction of the vertical axis.
In this project, the effects of various parameters (inlet pressure, flow rate, flow direction, different granularity) on the fluid pressure drop were investigated and the graphs related to each one were presented. Also, using the results obtained from the experiments on different samples, a relationship was described to describe the behavior of the fluid in the bed of each specimen, and at the end, the relationship was also applicable to all grain sizes in two directions Vertically, top-down and vice versa.
